7 Creative and Fun Ways to Announce Your Engagement

It’s your engagement announcement and you should make it extra special! Get creative with ideas for announcing the exciting news to your family and friends. Here are some fun ways to announce your engagement:

  1. Create a video: Make a video together, capturing your reactions and the proposal, and share it on social media or with friends and family. Whether it’s the actual proposal or just the two of you on camera sharing the good news, it’s sure to bring a smile to many faces.

BONUS POINTS— Film a movie trailer style announcement, highlighting future scenes of wedding planning and married life.

  2. Make it a surprise: Plan a surprise engagement party and invite friends and family to share in the celebration.

BONUS POINTS— Create a puzzle with your engagement photos, and send the pieces to friends and family with a note asking them to bring the puzzle piece to the party. Zazzle has a cute one here, but Etsy has tons of these that would work, too.

  3. Involve your pet: We’ve all seen those “My humans are getting married” scarf. Maybe ditch that overdone tactic and prop a sign next to your pooch. Or have someone record you both jumping and playing with the dog, ideally appearing that he’s celebrating the good news with you.

  4. Lightbox/ Letterboard Sign: Highlight your intended nuptials with a cute word or phrase and your planned wedding date. Think “The Smiths” or “Meet my fiancé.”

5. Mr. and Mrs.: Grab some fiancé or Mr/ Mrs gear and strike a pose. Let the labels speak for themselves.

6. Party Poppers: Create a Boomerang or reel featuring the confetti pop and a sign announcing your engagement.

7. Mylar Balloons: Stop by the party store and pick out two helium balloons that convey the message. Use your phone and timer to snap a pic of both of you holding your balloons and post that to social media. Emoji balloons are particularly cute for this— think diamond ring, kissy face, heart, champagne, etc.

Remember, the important thing is to make the announcement something that feels true to you and your relationship. So, have fun and let your personalities shine through!
