Last Minute Valentine's Gifts

Last Minute Valentine's Gifts

You dropped the ball, huh? Amazon Prime just isn’t fast enough? No worries. No one has to know. Gifting a DIY present for Valentine’s Day can be just as (or even more) romantic as a giving a store-bought item. Below are some adorable, simple, and quick gifts you can do with only a few supplies.

Make a craft

Depending on your skills and comfort in Hobby Lobby, this option isn’t for everyone. All are do-able with minimal purchases and not too much time.

Valentine’s Pillow- Buy a pillowcase (and insert if necessary), an set of alphabet stencils, and a permanent marker. Using the stencils, cover the front of the pillowcase with meaningful words. Ideas include the lyrics to your song, a favorite poem, etc. Make sure to stuff the pillow insert in the cover before gifting.

Date night jar- Buy a jar with a lid and grab some colored scrapbook paper. Cut paper into 15-20 equal pieces and write a date night idea on each. Fold and put into jar. (Popsicle sticks also work well for this!) Feeling extra crafty? Create a label with some twine and a tag.

Dry erase board- Buy a 5x7 or 8x10 picture frame and self-laminating sheets of the same size, as well as a dry erase marker. Print a cute message on a sheet of paper— “Reasons I love you” or “I can’t wait to” are just a few options. Use laminating sheets to laminate paper and insert it into frame. Write a cute message with dry erase marker, wrap with a ribbon, and you’re good to go.

Carved candle- Buy a white/ ivory pillar candle— votives are too small for this. Also grab a gold pen, masking tap, and something to carve with (cuticle trimmers or linoleum cutters work). You’ll also need a print-out of the design you’d like to carve. Cut the paper down to size and tape it onto the candle. Using your pen, firmly trace over your design. Make another pass with your carving tool. Remove paper and carve further if needed. Color in with gold pen. For bonus points, hot glue your candle to a wooden slab for a finished look.

Cook something sweet

Favorite meal- You know their favorite homemade meal, right? Gather groceries and plan a special date night at home. Make it together or have it ready when they arrive. Impress them further with a salad, main dish and sides, and dessert. If you want to go the extra mile, light some candles, turn on some mood music, and crack open a bottle of wine.

Sweet treats- These don’t have to be fancy. Just make some of their favorite sweet treats. The fact that you put time and effort into making something they love will go a long way. Consider these top-notch chocolate chip cookies or these Nutella-stuffed strawberries.

A sentimental notion

Photo book- Use your nearest photo kiosk and create a photo book of pictures of the two of you. Silly, romantic, serious, include all the photos you can find!

Plan a date at the location of your first date- Just the fact that you remembered the location and that it is special to you will win their heart over. If it’s a restaurant, maybe plan to spring for a dessert to share. If it’s a park, go for a stroll together.

52 reasons why I love you- Write down 52 reasons on separate sticky notes and hide them around the house. Or, use these 52 reasons alongside the pictures of the two of you from the photo book and create a real stunner.

Love note- Who doesn’t love a good old-fashioned love note? Bare your heart in a hand-written letter. Tell them why you love them. How they make you feel. Write about shared memories. And sign off with what you’re looking forward to. Deliver this one with a dozen roses or an assortment of chocolate and you’re golden!
